Arcadia Little League Parents,
I am reaching out to update you on the current status of this year’s season. Little League International (LLI) would like us wait to make any decisions until May 11. They are still trying to find ways to bring baseball and softball to every community. We still may have options to play, pending recommendations/requirements by the CDC, LLI, Scottsdale Unified School District and others.
Given all the changes our children have gone through recently, we especially want all our players to have the opportunity to play, have fun and have those valuable interactions with other children; if we can do it safely. For the youngest players, we know that they just want to go play with friends again. For our upper divisions, this may be the last year that they get to play organized baseball or softball, and our hearts go out to them in particular. We are holding out hope that these young athletes will have that one last chance to play ball.
The game provides opportunities for players make lasting memories, learn sportsmanship, create enduring friendships and to grow up to become good examples and even mentors. I have coached for many years and am blessed to have had young ladies come back and share stories about our fun times on the field. We are building a generation of memories, and at this time, Arcadia Little League is not ready to give up on them just yet!
I too, wish we had certainty on how our season will proceed. Like most every other institution in these times, we simply don’t know the answers yet. When LLI issues their guidelines on May 11, the Arcadia Little League Board will meet ASAP, and I will follow up with an email to you on how we will proceed.
I know I speak for all the Arcadia Little League volunteers in thanking you for being such a fabulous, supportive and patient community. Together, we will get through this!
